With over two decades of experience in copper mining, our senior advisor shares his perspective on leadership, teamwork, and continuous improvement, key pillars for addressing the challenges of the industry. In this interview, he reflects on the importance of empowering people, optimizing processes, and maintaining an open mindset toward innovation as drivers of growth and operational excellence at Delpro.

1. How important is teamwork in your management?

Teamwork is fundamental. Great achievements are accomplished with strong teams, but it is also essential that there is a person with a clear vision of what needs to be done. Teams work to refine that vision and ensure things get done. The success of projects belongs to the entire team, and each member has a part of the responsibility in that success. I have always highlighted collaborative work as key to achieving goals, and it has always delivered very good results.

2. How many people have you had under your responsibility?

When I started, I began alone, but over time my responsibility grew, and I ended up managing over a thousand workers, including both direct staff and external collaborators. This type of large-scale management requires a structured approach and a great capacity for coordination.

3. What is the role of a senior mining advisor?

The role of a senior mining advisor, particularly in my case, is based on experience. I have over 20 years working in copper mining, both in smelters and in other operational departments. My work consists of guiding projects, advising on decision-making, and ensuring that business objectives are met. I also maintain direct contact with clients, ensuring that projects are executed according to their expectations and optimizing processes both within the company and with the clients.
